Elms Lodge was
part of the VisitBritain Quality Assessment Scheme from 2005 to
2016. We were inspected annually by an assessor against a range of
accommodation criteria. Our 4 Star rating indicated an
"excellent standard throughout" and recognises the high
level of cleanliness, hospitality, comfort, service and food that
during this period we received a Gold Award accolade from
VisitBritain that is given to accommodation providers that
'deliver a standard of service over and above their rating'.
We withdrew from
the Scheme in 2016 largely because we believed the membership
costs no longer represented value-for-money against the benefits
received. However we can assure all prospective guests that the
high standards required to achieve the 4 Star rating and Gold
Award are still maintained on a day-to-day basis today.

offer their guests a quality and choice of breakfast, service and
hospitality that exceeds what would be expected at their star
rating. It will help visitors find those places where owners have
gone the extra mile to ensure the breakfast will exceed
received this accolade between 2010 and 2016, when we withdrew
from the VisitBritain scheme (see above). Again we would emphasise
that we strive to provide the same quality of breakfast today as
we have over the past 6 years.
Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS) Gold Award
became the first B & B in Dorset to receive this coveted Gold
Award in April 2010 and is still one of only a small number of
tourism businesses to achieve this in the entire country.

credible sustainable choice to customers.

Tourism 2010 Green Initiative of the Year Award
Elms Lodge won this
award in November 2010 at the Poole Tourism 2010 Awards lunch
for becoming the first tourism business to receive the Green
Tourism Business Scheme Gold Award in Dorset. A specially
commissioned Poole Pottery plaque from Poole Tourism now hangs
proudly in our hallway!
'Walkers Welcome' & 'Cyclists Welcome'
was awarded these accolades by VisitBritain each year from 2007 to
that we provide additional facilities and services that meet the
needs of walkers and cyclists. These include space for drying
outdoor clothing & footwear overnight; a lockable undercover
area for bicycles; flexible food arrangements, as well as the
provision of local information relating to walking/cycling routes,
public transport, weather forecasts, shops & amenities.

Host - Customer Service Award
completed the City & Guilds Level 2 Award in Customer
Service in 2008, along with certification for each individual
'Welcome to Excellence Unit - Welcome Host, Welcome All, Welcome
International, Welcome Line, and Welcome Host Plus. She has also
passed the specific 'Welcome to Dorset' module.
